Students take the following core modules in order to develop their knowledge and skills in fundamental management disciplines within the context of issues relating to entrepreneurship: accounting and finance; management project; business economics; managing people; marketing; operations management; strategic management; sustainable decisions and organisations; in addition, students must take the following 3 modules: entrepreneurship and creativity; entrepreneurship in practice; innovation management; plus 2 elective modules: the elective subjects permit the student to concentrate in-depth on more specific subjects according to their individual interests and career requirements; the top class faculty includes leading specialists in finance, entrepreneurship, business ethics, corporate social responsibility, operations management, and risk and insurance; therefore, the University offers elective modules in these areas and many more; French, German, Spanish and Japanese are offered as non-examined options for students who wish to advance their business language skills; a fundamental part of their development as a manager is participation in group work; their approach to management training is that the most effective way to accelerate learning and management skills is to work with talented peers from many different professional and cultural backgrounds, combined with close interaction with the academic staff; finally, students are asked to choose to write and be assessed on either a management project on a business topic of their choice, or a group management project (with an individual critique/analysis); the MBA includes the opportunity of an internship (this offers an exciting challenge and the chance to develop their potential and focus their MBA on their career goals; the internship experience can make a big difference to the post-MBA career, and the student's CV stands out, showing that they can put theory into practice; many organisations use internships to assess the potential of new employees; the Nottingham internship enables the student to work on a project in the UK or overseas; students work in partnership with leading multinational companies such as Alliance Boots, E.ON, Experian, and Rolls-Royce, as well as with small and medium-sized enterprises, financial services, and not-for-profit organisations, and creative industries; the findings from the internship are then written up into the student's MBA Management Project which counts as 60-credits towards their MBA.
