Year 1 of this course ensures that students have a good grasp of what business is all about; the environment within which business operates; key activities at the centre of most organisations; an understanding of economic thinking and of the role of data; and information in business; the 1st compulsory module for the 2nd year of study gives students the opportunity to work on projects and to develop their employability skills before they start to seek a placement at the end on of the year; students select from a range of modules related to business and management, of which some students choose the reasoning with research module to help with their final year research project; at the end of year 2 students have the option to choose a 10 month year in business or a shorter 10 week placement; which allows students to apply their knowledge and skills in the real world, helping them develop their skills, confidence and, perhaps most important, their attractiveness to future employers; students have to set up the placement, but are provided with some contacts and help is given towards completion of students applications and with their interview skills; there is also the option to have either of the placements assessed giving the opportunity to start with 20 credits going into the final year of study; once placement has finished students complete their final study year, which offers them the opportunity to practice, develop, challenge and explore their knowledge and skills, and examine management as an integrating activity; they are also able to go into greater depth by specialising in aspects of their choosing; another option students have in this year is the opportunity to work individually or with colleagues to develop and set up a business; in this final year of study the only compulsory module is the business-related research project; this gives students a great opportunity to reflect on their study so far and to explore in depth a topic of business that really interests them.

Year 1: Compulsory modules: organisations and the business environment; economics and globalisation; managing data. Year 2: Compulsory modules: creativity and innovation in the workplace; financial accounting; plus: human resource management; the marketing business; information and operations management; reasoning with research: social sciences research methods. Year 3: Optional placement Year 4: All modules are optional: marketing for managers; management accounting; strategic human resource management; managing sustainability; business strategy; international business; new trends in management; enterprise: creating and developing a business.
