Drama students encounter a wide range of theatre practice including: acting, writing, technical work and directing; all students are encouraged to develop transferable creative skills and a personal critical voice; practical workshops and production projects inform the programmes at all levels and theory led modules allow students to develop independently reasoned points of view which are then assessed through exploratory seminars, presentations and discursive analytical essays; group work underpins the teaching methods of the majority of the modules; English explores a variety of written forms from the sonnet to accounts of Victorian s�ces; Frankenstein to satirical songs; the 19th-century novel to lunatic asylum reports; slave narratives to Toni Morrison�s Song of Solomon; Henry V to Fight Club; this programme of study introduces students to new ideas and ways of thinking and broaden horizons both intellectually and personally; this course offers students a choice of modules in American literature and society; taking the dreams, desires and conflicts that saturate popular versions of America as starting points for the study of many provocative and inspiring texts from this influential culture.
