Our Honours degree provides students with the opportunity to explore education in the UK and elsewhere broadly whilst also giving them the chance to specialise in areas of particular interest; our modules aim to: develop students� understanding at a general level, for e.g. by addressing questions such as: what is childhood for? what is useful knowledge? what can education achieve?; but also more specific questions like why do the Scandinavian countries have education systems that consistently perform well?, what should special educational needs provision consist of? and should education be free?; enhance students� development as a critical thinker and practitioner to prepare them for further study or for work in a wide spectrum of employment within the education sector; stimulate their curiosity, creativity and open them up to different ways of thinking about and doing education; experts in the field of education to help facilitate a number of learning experiences that develop their ability to make educational theory real and practical; and expose students to debates at the forefront of education and engage with issues that are current and topical, as well as perennial issues that have exercised educationalists throughout history.
