Ringkasan program
Students cover the basic sciences in biology and chemistry, and foundation courses including ecology and environmental science, geology, plant ecology and taxonomy and sustainable land management and 2 field courses on plant ecology and the forest environment; some choice of courses is available in first year depending on entrance qualifications.
Modul program
Level 1: Land management; economics for land managers; plus a choice of courses typically to include ecology and environmental biology; animal and plant biology; introductory applied biochemistry; general physics for life. Level 2: Foundation subjects of forestry and arboriculture are studied including: tree physiology; forest ecology; tree identification; business analysis; soil science; forest engineering; wood science; statistics. Level 3: Silviculture; social and environmental forestry; forest protection; forest policy; forest business management; forest mensuration and inventory; research methods in forest science; timber harvesting; marketing and conversion; Borders study tour; south of England study tour. Level 4: Management exercise; dissertation; 3 options from: forest business management; forest harvesting; rural development forestry; wood science; forest protection; arboriculture; forest ecophysiology; tropical forestry; rural tourism and recreation; study tour.
