The majority of the research, in partnership with Derby Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, involves patients and human volunteers (tissue and blood samples, non-invasive and invasive study methods, clinical trials, mixed methods health services research); current research areas include: musculoskeletal system in health, ageing and disease; studies of health inequalities; uterine physiology and pathophysiology; metabolic and vascular complications of diabetes, obesity and renal function; drug efficacy and safety in children; rehabilitation and ageing; gastrointestinal disease; there are opportunities for interested students to undertake laboratory or clinical projects on key research themes
