This course is designed to prepare students for work or further study in music; students develop skills in a wide range of musical areas such as performance, composition, analysis and improvisation, as well as exploring a wide variety of relevant historical and theoretical aspects of music; throughout the course, students have the opportunity to frequently perform work that is open to the public, in both college facilities and in well-known venues around Belfast; students undertake student-devised and student-run projects eg preparing for and running a series of gigs. You will also have access to the sound recording studio and computer music labs, which are equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software.

Modul program

Modules include: Band rehearsal and performance; creative arts research skills; critical music listening; harmony and arranging; improvisation in music; managing a creative business; music composition techniques; music in context; music notation; music performance skills; music performance studies; personal and professional development; preparation, process and production in the creative arts; project design, implementation and evaluation; songwriting techniques and skills; work-based experience.
