In year 1, students learn how to work creatively with software programmes and discover how to distinguish between instrumental timbres, harmonies and rhythms; developing musicianship skills in listening and inventing, students gain a contextual understanding of music�s social function and value, of styles, of methods of explaining music and an introduction to aspects of music�s recent history; year 2 will develop students' practical and conceptual skills in applied composition and sound design; students develop an awareness of the tasks required for music supervision, direction and arrangement, including the technical, conceptual and diplomatic skills in studio production; the main focus of year 3 involves initiating, formulating and designing a project as part of a portfolio of distinctive work; students also learn how to evaluate contracts, processes and legal measures associated with the music, media and performing arts sectors.
