This degree focuses on preparing individuals for a career in archaeology, concentrating on professional training and providing students with a detailed and critical understanding of current themes in prehistoric and Roman archaeology; this course concentrates upon the archaeological remains and material culture of Western Europe from the Palaeolithic through to the 5th Century AD, and is underpinned by a strong focus on practical field archaeological skills; key components of the programme encompass artefact analysis, the study of human and animal remains, religious and ritual practice, military studies, urban development, trade and exchange, industrial processes, cultural change and globalisation.
