This course is offered on a non-modular basis; the programme addresses, and is assessed against, the 11-16 national Standards for Qualified Teacher Status provided by the Training and Development Agency, but goes beyond this into Key Stage 5 (16-18) and explores the complex and demanding nature of education; the central feature of the English PGCE is the way it reflects the diversity of English and its teaching in schools; course stimulates students' interest in children's personal reading and writing, their individual work in the arts and in information communications technology; student teachers' own specialist subject interests are fostered and encouraged through creative writing and performance, advancing literacy in education.
