Uraian Tempat

The Chemistry department has access to many shared instruments in FFSC and other departments. The Duke University NMR Center has nuclear magnetic resonance facilities including state of the art spectrometers operating at 800 MHz, 600 MHz, 500 MHz and 400 MHz. There are four instruments for routine applications: a widebore at 300MHz and two NMR’s for organic analysis at 300 MHz. Mass spectrometric services are provided by state of the art MALDI-MS and LC/ESI-MS systems. Routine mass spectrometry is performed with a Hewlett-Packard GC-MS system.

Students are assigned to housing randomly, but they have an opportunity to state preferences for things like single rooms, single-sex or coed halls, and specific living communities. Rooms include a chest of drawers, closet or wardrobe, mirror, study desk and chair, bookcase or shelving, window blinds, a bed (36” x 80” mattress - XL Twin), and cable, phone, and computer network connections. Both East Campus and West Campus have recreation centers, libraries, dining halls, cafes, post offices, tennis and basketball courts, and bus stops for easy access between the various parts of the university. All first-year students live in residence halls on East Campus in a housing community intentionally designed to support the needs and interests of those new to college life. All sophomores live on West Campus, and upper-class students can choose to live on West Campus or in Central Campus apartments.
