There are residence halls for undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh. Students admitted to the college and subsequent to the submission of all required deposits or fees, name will be forwarded to the University Housing Office. That office will send an informative booklet telling about the different on-campus residence hall options, a housing application, and a housing agreement. Students can complete and return the housing agreement with a housing deposit. Applications for housing are reviewed in a date-received order. Students are notified in writing regarding their on-campus housing applications. Forbes Hall is a pleasant residence hall located on Forbes Avenue about four blocks from the Litchfield Towers complex. It houses 232 primarily first-year students in air-conditioned doubles. Some of the doubles have adjoining semi-private powder rooms. There are communal showers, a kitchenette, and a laundry area on each floor. There are Internet e-mail kiosks and a student mail center in the lobby of Forbes Hall. The Health Book Center is located on the lowest level, accessible from Forbes Avenue. The Litchfield Towers comprise the largest residential complex on the Pitt campus. The three towers accommodate 1,868 men and women in air-conditioned singles and doubles. The lobby of the three towers houses a variety of offices and facilities including Panther Central, the student mail center, a fitness center, laundry facilities, vending machines, e-mail kiosks, and Common Grounds coffee cart. Lothrop Hall is a unique residence facility in the heart of the University of Pittsburgh’s renowned Medical Center, about three blocks from the Litchfield Towers.
