The Department has the second highest graduation rate among public HBCU's in the nation, and is ranked first in the state of Maryland in the graduation of African-American students. Morgan will continue to play a critical role in educating underrepresented minorities needed in this millennium. The growth and prosperity of the city, state and nation will depend upon a well educated and creative class of professionals. These individuals must be actively engaged in basic and applied research to ensure the economic development of new sciences and technologies. The Department will be able educate and train students who can effectively compete and provide innovative solutions to the challenges of the new millennium.

The Office of Residence Life and Housing (ORLH) at Morgan State University support and is an integral part of the educational and social development of students. Additionally, they provide a safe and comfortable living environment that enhances the academic success and achievements of the students. Students who live in residence halls are afforded a variety of opportunities for personal growth and development. They accomplish this through both structured and informal programs, and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year. The residence life program strives to provide an educational setting that integrates classroom and interpersonal experiences into a holistic learning experience. They also provide a living-learning environment that is conducive to the educational growth and personal development of the student. ORL provides quality residence hall programs, activities and living facilities that encourage student participation through hall government and leadership positions within the halls. The residence halls feature student rooms with telephone, computer and cable access, study rooms, laundry facilities and computer labs. They tailor residence life programs and activities to respond to the cultural, social, recreational and educational needs of students.
