Ever since Ezra Cornell and A.D. White joined forces to "found a university where any person can find instruction in any study," Cornell has been at the forefront of higher education in embracing students, faculty, and staff of both genders and of all backgrounds and ethnicities. Cornell has a variety of residential communities that are ideal for graduate students - both for single students and for students with partners or families. On-campus housing offers close proximity to Cornell’s academic facilities and downtown Ithaca, a wide range of services, resources, and social activities, and special programs for families and children. Full-time professional staffs members help ensure that residents have access to all the opportunities available through Cornell and in the greater Ithaca area. These residents tell student that they especially appreciate their friendly neighborhoods and supportive, multi-cultural communities. Typically more than half of this graduate residents are international students and families, representing more than 60 home nations.
