The 2 joint degree program in Forestry and Natural Resource Conservation implemented in 1992 by the Florida A and M University (FAMU) and the University of Florida operates on a two tier basis. The curriculum of the Associate in Arts degree provides broad training in the humanities, natural sciences and social sciences during the freshman and sophomore years. Approximately 60 hours are devoted to the general and pre-professional education sequence which includes courses in English, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, health and history, as well as some electives.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Student should have two years of one foreign language or American Sign Language or the equivalent of such instruction at the post-secondary level (except those exempted in Rule 6C-6.004(1) C, FAC) must complete eight semester hours in one foreign language prior to graduation. An applicant who has at least a 3.0 (recalculated) grade point average on a 4.0 scale in core academic units completed in grades 9 through 12 and who submits other appropriate evidence that indicates successful academic progress is academically eligible for admission. When computing the grade point averages, applicants receive additional weight for International Baccalaureate (IB), honors, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Specific high school course units are required for admission as a first year student (an academic unit is a year-long course which is not remedial in nature). They should have scores of at least 550 (Paper-based test), 213 (Computer-based test) and 80 (Internet-based test) on Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) if the native language is not English.

Shortly after its founding, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) became the beneficiary of educational provisions for African Americans made possible through the passage of the Second Morrill Act of 1890. Through this important federal legislation, FAMU, formerly known as the “State Normal College for Colored Students,” was designated to receive a land grant “to the endowment and support of branches of learning as related to agriculture and mechanic arts, including military tactics.” Unlike the 1862 predominantly white counterpart institutions, however, FAMU and the other sixteen 1890 historically black colleges were not given any resources to carry out the research and development areas of the land-grant tripartite system until 1966. As a result, the school was relegated to teaching without the benefits of research and extension funds from either the federal or state governments.

Diamond Hall offers community bathrooms. Each bathroom is equipped with several shower stalls, toilets, and sinks. The facility is within walking distance to the bus terminal, the Student Union Building, and the main administration building. Gibbs Hall: Gibbs introduced the bill to the Florida Legislature that provided for the establishment of the college. Gibbs Hall has three hundred and five bed spaces. It is equipped with a laundry facility, electronic access, and wireless internet capability. Gibbs Hall offers community bathrooms. Each bathroom is equipped with several shower stalls, toilets, and sinks. Gibbs Hall is located in the West Quadrangle of campus on Wahnish Way directly across the street from the Bragg Memorial Stadium. McGuinn Hall: McGuinn Hall is a three and one half story facility with 110 rooms which accommodates a total of two-hundred and sixteen (216) bed spaces. McGuinn and Diamond shares a lobby. It is equipped with a laundry facility, electronic access, wireless internet capability, and a general study area downstairs. McGuinn Hall offers community bathrooms.
