Physical therapist assistants (PTAs) provide services under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist. PTAs help people of all ages who have medical problems, or other health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. PTAs provide services to patients in a variety of settings, including: Outpatient clinics or offices, hospitals and inpatient rehabilitation facilities, Skilled nursing or extended care facilities, Education or research centers and schools, Industrial, workplace, or other occupational environments, Fitness centers and sports training facilities.

Modul program

The course modules for the first year fall semester are SC 116 Medical Terminology 1, SC 200 Human Anatomy and Physiology 5, HU 150 The World of Ideas: Critical Reasoning and Rhetoric 3, PT 115 Basic Skills in Patient Care Lab 2, PT 100 Introduction to PT and Clinical 2, PT 105 Functional Anatomy (with lab) 3. The course modules for the first year spring semester are SC 206 Pathophysiology/ Pharmacology 4, HU Humanities Elective 3, PT 120 Therapeutic Exercise (with lab) 3, CM 101 English Composition 3, PT 130 Therapeutic Modalities (with lab) 4, PT 180 PTA Clinical I 1. The course modules for the first year summer semester are CM 230/245 Language and Culture in Health Care 3, SS 215 Life-Span Psychology 3, PT 200 PTA Clinical II 4. The course modules for the second year fall semester are SS 235 The Sociology of Culture 3, PT 210 Orthopedic Issues (with lab) 4, PT 215 Pediatrics & Neurology Disorders (with lab) 4, PT 228 Special Topics (with lab) 3, PT 220 Therapeutic Exercise II (with lab) 3. The course modules for the second year spring semester are PT 230 Medical Ethics, Law and Health Care Administration 3, PT 240 PTA Clinical III 5, PT 250 PTA Clinical IV 5, PT 280 PTA Seminar 1, CM 209 Portfolio Synthesis 0.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Admission requirements include High school graduate or GED equivalent, with a GPA of 2.5 or above. Required courses are: algebra, biology, chemistry (completed with a “C” grade or above) to be completed in high school or at college level; prerequisites of College Algebra, College Physics and College English Composition. The applicants should have an ACT composite 20 or above or SAT 950 critical reading and mathematics scores (if within 2 years of high school graduation), a College GPA of 2.5 or above (cumulative) earned at a regionally accredited institution (courses considered for transfer must be completed with a “C” grade or above). They must meet program technical standards. Job shadowing experience recommended and documentation may be submitted with application.
