This program provides graduates dental hygiene care to promote patient/client health and wellness using critical thinking and problem solving in the provision of evidenced-based practice, and provides accurate, consistent and complete documentation for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of dental hygiene services. The dental hygienist is a member of the dental health team who provides educational, preventive and therapeutic oral health services. Employment opportunities may be available in private dental practice, hospitals, public health agencies, educational institutions, and research. Bachelor of Science degree in public health dental hygiene is offered for dental hygienists who desire career options such as: public health, teaching, research, business and marketing. This degree is awarded upon completion of an additional 32 credit hours beyond the Associate of Science degree. Salaries for dental hygienists vary depending on location and type of practice. The last reported survey from the US Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics dated 2006 and published in 2008. The median yearly salary for dental hygienists in Indiana was $62,090 and the median hourly salary was $30.00. According to America's Career InfoNet, annual salaries ranged from $62,100 to $77,000.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Applicants must have completed the entire primary/secondary university preparatory sequence in the country where they studied or completed a challenging course of study in secondary school designed to prepare them for study at a university including math and science or graduation diploma, school certificate, or certificate of education with strong grades or marks in secondary school course work and/or examinations with four units of English and a combined total of at least nine units from the following three areas with representation in each of mathematics, science (biology and chemistry), and social studies or foreign languages and computer literacy. Applicants must have the SAT verbal results of 400 or 17 English ACT with a minimum college cumulative GPA of 2.50. International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score of 500(paper-based version), 173 (computer-based version), 61 (Internet-based version) or an IELTS score of 5.5 or score of 45 on Pearson Test of English Academic or to study English intensively at the ELS Language Centers at IUPUI and complete ELS intensive Level 109. Students from Japan must have a "Pre-First Grade" score on the STEP Eiken. After being admitted, students may require to take one or more supplemental EAP courses to develop additional language proficiency if TOEFL scores are below 80 (iBT), 550 (PBT) or 213 (CBT) in IUPUI EAP placement test.
