Indigenous is used to designate the human populations originating in a particular land or region. The focus may be Native Americans, Native Canadians, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians, Maori, Aboriginal Australians, or other people’s native to a region. Applied indicates program looks toward today's needs on reservations. The program goal is to develop knowledge and train individuals who can tackle the issues and challenges facing today and tomorrow's indigenous communities.

The Candidates to be admitted to Northern Arizona University must meet the general requirements described below: Evidence of Academic Achievement: Students must have completed secondary school, and official school documents - transcripts or mark sheets - must reflect academic success. Students academic record must show at least a 2.5 grade point average (GPA) or equivalent to be admissible to Northern Arizona University. English Language Proficiency: If English is not students first or native language, they must demonstrate English-language proficiency. This can be done in one of the following ways: TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) score of 70 on the new Internet-based TOEFL (iBT), 193 on the computer-based TOEFL (CBT), or 525 on the paper-based test (PBT) taken within the past 2 years. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of band 6.0 or better. ACT (English sub-score of 21 is required) or SAT (verbal score of 510 is required).Scores must be received from the testing organization (copies are not acceptable); Evidence of Financial Support and Financial Guarantee; Complete Application Packet.
