This program curriculum emphasizes five branches of modern applied mathematics: probability, statistics, operations research, optimization, and discrete mathematics. Other curricular and research areas include computing, matrix theory, and numerical analysis. The undergraduate major in applied mathematics and statistics may serve as preparation for employment as an applied mathematician, for graduate study in applied mathematics or related areas, or as a general quantitative training for a career in business, medicine, or other fields.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants should have completed a course of study in a secondary school that provides both a sound basic education and a solid preparation for the Johns Hopkins academic program. The preparatory course requirements are as follows: four years of English, four years of mathematics, four years of foreign language, four years of science with laboratory and four years of history. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 600 (paper test), 250 (computer test), or 100 (internet-based test). Applicants taking the internet-based TOEFL (iBT) should have minimum sub-scores of 26 (reading), 26 (listening), 22 (writing), and 25 (speaking). A critical reading SAT score of 670 or higher waives for the TOEFL requirement for all students.
