Ringkasan program
This program is designed to prepare students for career opportunities in the urban milieu by providing an interdisciplinary major focused on the urban community, its environment and problems. The major combines the study of broad issues and theoretical concerns with specialized training in urban analytical research methodologies.
Modul program
The modules include CCS 355; ECON 458; GEOG 354; PA 310; POL SCI 422; SOC 406 Quantitative Methods in Social Research or SOC 407 Survey and Experimental Research Methods; 12 units from the following courses: SOC 350 Population and Contemporary Issues; SOC 355 Minority Group Relations; SOC 406 Quantitative Research Methods; SOC 407 Survey and Experimental Research Methods; SOC 443 Crime and Society; SOC 455 Asian American Communities; SOC 456 Collective Behavior: Crowds, Cults, and Crazes; SOC 457 Protests, Reforms, and Revolutions; SOC 505 Applied Sociological Research; SOC 527 Aging and Society; SOC 537 Political Sociology; SOC 543 Police, Courts, and Corrections; SOC 555 Immigrants and Refugees in Contemporary American Society.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should have a minimum US equivalent GPA of 3.0 (B grade or about 80 per cent) or higher. In addition to this, international students whose major education has been in a language other than English must score 550 or higher (using the paper version) or 213 or higher (using the computer version) or 80 or higher (using the internet version) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL); or 6.5 or better on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
