Ringkasan program
This program prepares students for graduate work in literary and cultural studies as well as for careers in teaching and other related fields. The curriculum introduces students to the major critical approaches in literary study and to the history of British and American literature. The capstone will provide a culminating opportunity to complete a substantial research project on a topic of the student's choice.

The modules are as follows: 42.200 Critical Methods of Literary Inquiry, 42.201 Great Books of Antiquity, 42.291 History of English Literature I, 42.292 History of English Literature II, 42.294 History of American Literature I, 42.295 History of American Literature II; One of the following: 42.307 History and Development of the English Language, 42.308 Analysis of Modern English, 42.315 Old English Language and Literature, 42.316 American Dialects, 42.423 Shakespeare I OR 42.424 Shakespeare II.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should have completed the following coursework at the college preparatory level or higher during high school such as four years of English, two years of social studies (including one year of U.S. history), three years of mathematics, two years of foreign language (in a single language), three years of science (two with a lab), and two years of electives. In addition to this, students must have considerable facility with English, and prospective students whose native language is not English are required to take college writing 1 and 2 with a grade of C or better at a regionally accredited college or university, or to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). They should have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper version of the test, 213 on the computer-based version and 79-80 on the internet-based version.
