This program provides extensive preparation for individuals seeking industry positions in the design and production components of the fashion industry. Students choosing the fashion design major will design, develop, and construct apparel and related products, while learning about design, product development, apparel construction, fashion sketching, textiles, computer technologies, pattern making, and draping. Apparel designers need to have the ability to lead a team and interpret fashion trends, in addition to being able to sketch, sew, and make patterns. Success for designers in other fashion areas such as accessory and home furnishings design requires similar types of skills. Individuals with a degree in fashion design work as fashion designers, computer-automated-design (CAD) specialists, merchandisers, technical designers, findings/trimmings buyers, graphic designers, stylists, first pattern makers, production pattern makers, sample makers, pre-production managers, apparel production managers, fabric buyers, fabric quality control managers, graders, marker makers, showroom sales representatives, outside sales representatives, account executives, entrepreneurs, and company owners.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students should have earned a high school diploma or equivalent with a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scales, they should have class ranking which places them in the top 50 percent of their high school graduating class, scored at least 1000 (verbal and math sections only) on the SAT or scored 21 or above composite on the ACT Assessment. International students, whose native language is not English, must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 500 (paper - based) or 173 (computer - based) or 79 (internet - based).
