The journalism major at UC emphasizes writing, editing and photojournalism as they apply to both print and new media. The interdisciplinary major (54 credit hours) is driven by the progressive development of students’ critical thinking, writing, editing and observation skills in the context of a liberal arts education.

Modul program

There are three areas of concentration in the major: News/Editorial, Magazine/Narrative Nonfiction and Photojournalism.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

A minimum grade-point average (GPA) of 3.00 (out of 4.00) or foreign equivalent, as determined by the admitting department. Students can prove English proficiency in a number of ways at the undergraduate level. Most students fulfill the English requirement by taking the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Most undergraduate programs require the following minimum scores: 515 (Toefl paper-based test), or 187 (Toefl computer-based test), or 66 (Toefl Internet-based test), or Ielts overall band score of 5.5. The colleges of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), Business and Engineering require higher TOEFL scores, as follows: 550 (TOEFL paper-based test), or 213 (TOEFL computer-based test), or 79 (TOEFL internet-based test), or IELTS overall band score of 6.0.Students should take Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) to qualify for certain programs and scholarships.

The department is dedicated to promoting the study of literature, language, and writing at both the graduate and undergraduate levels; to creating new knowledge in literary studies, rhetoric, and writing; and to improving methods by which this knowledge is communicated to students. The primary goal of the department's programs is to educate students to respond to the needs of a contemporary information age from the perspective of a broad-based literary and cultural heritage rooted in the values shared with other humanities disciplines.

The housing contract options easily accommodate varying needs, including cooperative education and year-round housing. All rooms are furnished and come with air conditioning, high speed Internet access, a phone, local phone service, utilities and cable TV service. A premium channel upgrade is available for the cable service. Loft beds are also available. All halls feature a full fire protection system and 24-hour security. Some of the halls are ; Calhoun Hall, Campus Recreation Center Housing, Dabney Hall, Daniels Hall, Scioto-Morgan Apartment Complex, Siddall Hall, etc.
