This program is to serve the beef industry through research, teaching, and extension/outreach. Research efforts are focused on discovery research to examine fundamental processes within the whole animal and to develop innovative beef production practices. The on-farm teaching laboratory provides students the opportunity to learn and enhance skills in beef production practices, nutritional management, artificial insemination, embryo transfer, and forage management.

Students whose native language is not English must have the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 500 on paper based test, 173 on computer-based test, 60 on Internet-based test and the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an overall score of 6.0 and no individual band under 5.0 is required for admission.

The university offers more housing choices, more comfort and more community. Students learn best when they feel comfortable and are fully immersed in an academic community. So the residence halls are located only minutes away from classes, the library and campus computer labs (as well as more casual places to study, such as Brady Commons). University Student Apartments are available only for students who are married, have children, are single graduate students, or are students over the age of 21. All other students should prefer the Residence Hall.
