Ringkasan program
This program has four major subfields. Physical anthropology explores the origins of human life and the biological bases of culture. Archaeology examines the development of human cultures from prehistory and ancient civilizations to historic and modern times. Linguistic anthropology focuses on the languages and dialects of the world and the relationships of language to thought and culture. Cultural anthropology studies human behavior by surveying the range and variety of cultural traditions throughout the world. Some anthropology majors generalize, while others specialize in one or more of the subfields. The program offers many opportunities to undergraduates that most programs in the world cannot offer. Students often work right alongside us as teaching and research assistants. The undergrads are offered hands-on training and experience in the methods of digital ethnography, archaeology, anthropological linguistics, osteology.
Modul program
The modules include ANTH 200 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology Credits: (3) or ANTH 204 - A General Education Introduction to Cultural Anthropology Credits: (3) or ANTH 210 - Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Honors Credits: (4); ANTH 220 - Introduction to Linguistic Anthropology Credits: (3); ANTH 260 - Introduction to Archeology Credits: (3); ANTH 280 - Introduction to Physical Anthropology Credits: (3); Five advanced electives distributed among three or more subfields: 15 hours at or above the 300 level. At least 9 of these must be at or above the 500 level; Students are strongly encouraged to include at least one methods course: ANTH 677 - Research Methods in Digital Ethnography Credits: (3); ANTH 678 - Archaeological Laboratory Methods Credits: (3); ANTH 679 - Archaeological Field Methods Credits: (3); ANTH 694 - Osteology Credits: (3) and ANTH 695 - Laboratory in Osteology Credits: (1); ANTH 730 - Field and Laboratory Techniques in Archaeology Credits: (1-9); ANTH 792 - Field Methods in Linguistics Credits: (3); ANTH 602 - Anthropological Theory Credits: (3).
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Students should be a high school graduate from an accredited high school. They should have achieved an ACT score of 21 or above or an SAT (critical reading and math) of 980 or above; or ranked in the top third of the graduating class at the end of the seventh or eighth semester; or completed the precollege curriculum such as English, natural science, math, and social science. In addition to this, if international students meet the academic requirements, Kansas State University may conditionally admit them with no proof of English proficiency. English proficiency requirements for unconditional admission are transfer students from a U.S. institution must have completed both 24 credit hours at an accredited U.S. institution and English Composition I and II with grades of C or better; an IBT (Internet based TOEFL) - composite score of 79 or higher; IELTS - composite score of 6.5 or higher; ACT - English part score of 23 or higher; SAT - verbal part score of 530 or higher; PTE - Pearson Test of English - overall score of 53 or higher; Eiken (Pre-1 score); and four years attendance in a U.S. high school with grades of C or better in all college preparatory courses.
