This program is offered through Seton Hall University's College of Education and Human Services and the School of Graduate Medical Education, prepares competent, social conscious, reflective teachers who understand the current issues and purposes of special education. It joins the undergraduate special education program with the School of Graduate Medical Education's M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology Program. The undergraduate program consists of a College of Arts and Sciences major, a dual certification in elementary and especial education and concentration in speech-pathology courses. Students complete an undergraduate degree leading to a B.S.E. and eligibility for endorsement as a teacher, in specified areas, in the state of New Jersey. If undergraduate program and GPA requirements are met, students receive automatic admission in to the speech-language pathology graduate program.

Students must have at least three years of high school mathematics, including pre-calculus or trigonometry. Entry into the program requires a minimum mathematics SAT score of 550 or a minimum SAT total score of 1000 with 520 in mathematics.

This traces its roots back to the 1920’s when six courses were offered by the Department of Education in the College of Arts and Sciences at Seton Hall College. It fulfills the mission of Seton Hall by preparing candidates for careers in the helping professions. The spirit of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, noted for her work with children and education, is manifest in each department. All its academic programs are accredited by several national organizations including the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the American Psychological Association (APA), Commission On Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), and Council on Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

This university provides both on-campus and off-campus housing through residence halls. Aquinas Hall houses 336 first year and upper-class students. It is arranged in two-room suites, each sharing a private bathroom. A study lounge is available for students on each of the three floors. Its director's office is located in the lobby. Students can contact the Aquinas Hall front desk at 973-761-9566. Boland Hall houses 704 first year students. Floors are arranged in theme-house style allowing students with similar interests to live and learn. North Boland is co-ed by floor and is arranged so two rooms share a bathroom. South Boland is single gender by wing and is arranged so individual rooms share a community bathroom. The Pirate's Cellar is located in the basement and is available for studying, television, pool games, programs, and other assorted activities. The Complex is made up of three individual residence halls that function as one area under the supervision of the Complex Residence Hall Director. Each of the three halls is arranged in two and three room suites, each sharing a private bathroom. There are two lounges available for students on each floor. In addition, a study lounge is located behind the reception desk. Its Director’s office is located on the first floor of Neumann Hall. Xavier Hall houses 517 upper-class students and it is the home of the Sophomore Year Experience program. This residence hall is arranged so two rooms share a bathroom. A study lounge and a game lounge are available on the second and third floors. The Residence Hall Director’s office is located on the first floor lobby.
