This program encourages students to explore courses in three main areas (i.e., institutions, inequality, and culture and social change).

Modul program

The modules are as follows: General Education Core Requirements 56-58; Prerequisites for Major in Sociology (taken as part of the General Education core): MTH 1150, Elementary Statistics 3, SOC 1010, Introduction to Sociology 3; Major Requirements 30: SOC 2200, Sociological Theory 3, SOC 2250, Social Research Methods 3; Sociology Core Courses 9: Institutions (three hours chosen from the following) 3, SOC 2300, Crime and Deviance, SOC 3000, Schools and Society, SOC 3220, Sociology of Religion, SOC 3230, Sociology of Health and Illness, SOC 3260, Family Problems and Social Change, SOC 3440, Sociology of Science, SOC 3700, Criminal Justice, SOC 3800, Criminology; Power and Inequality (three hours chosen from the following) 3 ;SOC 3200, Sociology of Gender, SOC 3240, Political Sociology, SOC 3400, Inequality, SOC 3450, Race and Ethnic Relations; Emphasis Area: Criminology Emphasis: SOC 2200, Sociological Theory 3, SOC 2250, Research Methods 3, Sociology Competency Hours (3 hours chosen from each of the following areas) 9: Institutions - (e.g., Family Problems and Social Change, Sociology of Health and Illness), Inequality - (e.g., Race and Ethnic Relations, Sociology of Gender), Social Change and Culture - (e.g., Sociology of Music, The Urban Community, Popular Culture); Fundamental Criminology Courses (take each of the following 3 courses) 9: SOC 2150, Theories of Deviance 3, SOC 3040, Sociology of Prisons 3, SOC 3800, Criminology 3; Criminology Electives (Choose 6 hours from the following courses) 6: SOC 2020, Social Problems, SOC 2300, Deviance, SOC 3700, Criminal Justice, SOC 3400, Inequality, SOC 2450, Law and Society, SOC 3450, Race and Ethnic Relations, SOC 3890, Special Topics in Criminology, SOC 4900, Practicum in Sociology (by departmental approval); Minor Requirements 18, Electives 22-24.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

International applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in the English language by meeting any one of the following: minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper-based test (PBT) or 80 internet-based test (iBT); minimum IELTS score of 6.5; minimum SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or ACT English subscore of 23; successful completion of ELS Language Center Level 112. All applicants with college level coursework from a foreign institution must have their transcripts evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluation organization, such as World Educations Services (WES) or Joseph Silny and Associates or an evaluation service listed currently as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).
