Ringkasan program
This physics Education program is designed to prepare graduates who will (1) develop successful careers teaching secondary physics; (2) maintain their study of current work in theoretical and applied physics and bring that knowledge into their classrooms throughout their careers; (3) continue to develop their pedagogical skills throughout their careers; (4) display unwavering high ethical standards; and (5) contribute to the needs of and in other ways enhance their local communities and the world at large.
Modul program
The courses for this major are Physics 200, 201, 202 and 221; Earth Science 113 or 114; Engineering 210 and 321; Chemistry 105 and 113; Biology 101 and 103; Mathematics 121, 122 and 222; Computer Science 121; and Education 105, 150, 241, 282, 305, 470 and 490. Education certification also requires two English courses (one literature and one writing). The final professional portfolio (Education 490) must include two position papers on the ethical implications of contemporary physics. Physics Education majors may substitute Physics 200 for one of their Natural and Physical Science Core courses.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants must have an overall GPA of at least 2.8. They must have a grade of C or better in the two courses with Education prefixes. They must provide proof of a valid TB medical clearance (tests are valid for a 2-year period) and valid criminal record clearance (SP4-164, Request for Criminal Record Check and CY113 Child Abuse History Clearance and FBI Criminal History Report). Forms to complete these clearances are available in Nicarry 143. They should also provide an official declaration of an approved major and minor or concentration, where required and a paper portfolio which includes the following: Resume; Description of their experience working with children; Sample of their writing; Self-evaluation and progress toward satisfaction of program dispositions and competencies; Student Life Clearance (Complete the top portion only); One picture of the applicant and other items they wish to present in support of their application.
