Modul program
The modules are as follows: Thirty-one credits in Sociology including SOC 001; SOC 100; and SOC 101; nine additional credits at the 100-level; and nine credits at the 200-level plus STAT 051 or higher which is required as a prerequisite for taking SOC 100. Only three credits of SOC 285/SOC 286/SOC 288/SOC 289 may count toward the 200-level requirements. It is recommended that SOC 001, SOC 100, and SOC 101 be completed before the start of the junior year. SOC 001 and SOC 100, or SOC 001 and SOC 101, or instructor’s permission is a prerequisite for enrollment in any 200-level course. Students planning to focus in a particular area of study are strongly encouraged to take an additional 200-level course in that area. Students planning postgraduate training in Sociology or related areas are strongly encouraged to take at least two courses from the advanced Theory/Methods area (SOC 274, SOC 275, SOC 279). The Department of Sociology offers an optional twelve-credit concentration in Social Gerontology including SOC 020 and SOC 120; either SOC 220 or SOC 222; and at least one course from SOC 154, SOC 254, or SOC 255. Students interested in completing the Social Gerontology concentration are encouraged to consult their faculty advisor early in their program.

Students must have minimum entry requirements: four years of English; three years of mathematics (Algebra I, Algebra II and geometry (or equivalents); two years of the same foreign language (American Sign Language meets this requirement); two years of a natural or physical science, including a laboratory science; three years of social sciences. International students should have a minimum acceptable TOEFL score of both 550 for the paper-based and 79-80 for the iBT and a minimum of IELTS score of 6.5 is required for admission.
