The Department supports the mission of the University by providing courses for the core and by providing a wide range of history and philosophy courses in support of its majors and minors, as well as geography courses that can be used as electives for many majors. These courses are also useful for students in other majors, especially those with plans to pursue careers in teaching

All halls are located on main campus and provide study areas, recreation rooms, laundry facilities, kitchens and computer stations. All rooms are equipped with telephone, Internet and cable television access. Typically, two students share a room and four students share a bathroom in what are known as “suite-style” residence halls. There are a limited number of private rooms, where students have their own room and share a bathroom with one other student. There is a common kitchen/living room area in each residence hall that all residents in that building share. GCSU offers a number of choices for on-campus living, from the traditional residence hall on main campus to apartment-style living at The Village. Living on campus is a good way to make friends and to adjust to life at GCSU.
