Ringkasan program
In the Department of Kinesiology the Option in Physical Education and Teacher Education is referred to as the “PETE Blended program.” It comprises 121-145 semester units of course work which includes all GE requirements, as well as the courses directly related to subject matter (skills and knowledge) and teaching methods. The PETE program philosophy is congruent with the University’s vision for intensive, high-quality learning environments, cutting edge learning and information resources, intellectual rigor, and moral development. Furthermore, the program coincides with the University’s concept of a well-prepared teacher. PETE graduates are educated to provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences for all students, with the ultimate goal to help these students become physically active for the rest of their lives. The program helps prospective teachers meet the individual needs of students. It gives future teachers the tools they need to encourage lifetime participation in physical activity, which in turn helps develop fitness and wellness in California’s youth. In addition, the program prepares prospective teachers to advance state and national standards for physical education (the California Framework and Challenge Standards as well as the National Association for Sport and Physical Education [NASPE] standards).

Students must be a high school graduate with a 3.0 (B in the US) or very good average. They should have three years of university - preparatory mathematics courses including at least Beginning Algebra, Geometry, and Intermediate Algebra. The SAT-I is not required for admission except for freshmen students with 3 or more years of high school study in the US. International students whose native is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English language by TOEFL or IELTS scores; the official international score of TOEFL is 500 on the paper-based exam, 173 on the computer-based exam, or 61 on the iBT internet-based TOEFL. For IELTS band 6 is required.
