The graphic design program prepares graduates to work as professionals. Graduates have mastered a broad range of conceptual, formal and technical skills that allow them to plan and execute the design of visual communications creatively and responsibly. This is achieved through the study of fine art, craftsmanship, and design theory coupled with practical design experiences. The program allows students to develop a personally fulfilling approach to design by focusing on critical thinking and process-oriented design explorations.

Admission to Drake is selective, the admission committee considers the full record of each candidate for admission. Drake prefers students with varied talents and interests, so there is no single, inflexible set of admission standards applied to all candidates. Students should complete their secondary school for admissions into undergraduate programs. Should take the TOEFL and submit scores to Drake. If not done prior to arrival on campus, the TOEFL must be completed during the orientation session before beginning the semester. Submit documented evidence of financial support for educational expenses. Students should submit ACT or SAT scores directly from the testing agency for scholarship consideration or for admission to the pre-professional pharmacy program.
