The University of Missouri was founded in 1839 in Columbia, Mo., as the first public university west of the Mississippi River and the first state university in Thomas Jefferson's Louisiana Purchase territory. MU provides all the benefits of two universities in one it’s a major land-grant institution and Missouri's largest public research university. Mizzou has a diverse enrollment with 30,200 students from every county in Missouri, every state in the nation and 100 countries. University of Missouri is located in Columbia, Missouri (one of America’s best college towns), Mizzou is an exceptional place, a university where students will find more of what they want and need than they can even imagine. The ten facilities provided by the university are the Fields, the Courts and the Wall, Student Success Center, Buck’s Place, The New Life Sciences Center with more than 72,000 square feet of laboratory space, The Atrium at Cornell Hall, The School of Journalism operates from five buildings on the main campus. Students will find two high-tech design labs, a digital television editing lab, three major writing labs and two world-class newsrooms one is an NBC affiliate and the other an NPR affiliate, Museum of Anthropology has four major collections, a 20,000-square-foot temperature-controlled storage space for the collections and four dedicated laboratories, The Research Reactor, Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital and the Alpine Tower.

Manor House Apartments are available to graduate and professional students over the age of 21 without children. Students can apply to live in one of 38 studio apartments, 6 one-bedroom apartments and 29 two-bedroom apartments. At Manor House students have all the advantages of living on campus with the privacy of an apartment and the convenience of being near downtown Columbia. Each apartment contains a kitchen unit with an electric range, refrigerator, and garbage disposal. Apartments are carpeted and unfurnished. The monthly rental rate includes water, sewer, gas, basic cable, and local phone bills. Apartments are individually metered, enabling residents to make their own arrangements with utility companies. The resident pays the electric bill. University Heights, University Terrace, and University Village Apartment complexes offer safe, affordable, and family-friendly housing for students with families and a limited number of single graduate students. Although floor plans vary, all apartments include living room, kitchen, bath, and one or two bedrooms. All are unfurnished except for stoves and refrigerators. The monthly rental rate includes water, sewer, gas, basic cable, and local phone bills. Apartments are individually metered, enabling residents to make their own arrangements with utility companies. The resident pays the electric bill.
