This program provides an excellent liberal arts background to students preparing for careers in which critical thinking and writing skills as well as an understanding of politics and government is either essential or desirable. To promote their career goals, students often combine their political science major with a minor or major in business, international studies, justice studies, communication, biology, geography, economics or foreign languages. The program provides valuable insights into the functioning of government and politics (locally, nationally and globally) which also serve as excellent preparation for further graduate or professional education. It also offers courses in American politics and government, constitutional law and judicial process, political philosophy, international relations, and comparative politics.

Applicants graduated from an accredited high school of under or above 21 years of age must meet one of the following criteria: ACT composite score of 21 or higher; or rank in the top 1/3 of high school graduating class; or complete the pre-college curriculum with at least a 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale; or have 24 or more transferable college credit hours with at least a 2.0/4.0 cumulative grade point average. The pre-college curriculum should include, four units of English, three units of Math (Algebra I and above taken in grade 9-12), three units of natural science (at least one must be chemistry or physics), and three units of social science. Those who are from a non-accredited high school or home school should possess ACT composite score of 21 or higher. Applicants must also have a minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent in high school or a minimum CGPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, if they have been transferred from another U.S. college with at least 24 credit hours (approximately one year of college work). They must also demonstrate their English language proficiency by obtaining 520 (paper) or 190 (computer) or 68 (internet) scores in TOEFL; and an overall band of 6.0 with a minimum score of 5.5 in each band in IELTS.
