The department is very production oriented with numerous undergraduate opportunities for performance and design. Outstanding full-time faculty and staff and gifted adjunct or part-time faculty, many of whom pursue professional careers, provide a nurturing, positive, creative and highly challenging atmosphere for students. The department includes both a wonderful Theatre program and a challenging Dance program. A program in Media Arts is currently being developed. Theatre degrees now offered are a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting/Directing or Technical Theatre/Design and a BFA in Theatre Education Studies. In the area of Dance, a BFA in Dance is offered.

The University of Central Oklahoma provides the on campus housing. The Residence Halls has different buildings such as Central Plaza, University Suites, University Commons, West Hall, Murdaugh Hall. Central Plaza is UCOs newest residential facility. Central Plaza, a co-educational hall, offers many amenities, such as a cafeteria, coffee bar, wireless internet, private bathrooms, queen size beds, and much more. The University Suites, built in 2001, are one of UCOs newest residence halls. The Suites features several floor plans including a double room with bath, two double rooms with bath, or a four bedroom suite with a galley kitchen. The Suites also feature moveable furniture, which allows each resident to fully customize their living space. If students are looking for the apartment lifestyle with the convenience of on-campus living, the University Commons are the place for them. The Commons offer two and four bedroom apartments. Each apartment features a common living room and kitchenette. Commons residents also have access to a community clubhouse that features pool, television lounge, ping-pong, and a computer lab. West Hall, built in 1963, is UCOs female residential facility. It consists of three floors and offers 432 beds, primarily as double-occupancy rooms. West Hall features telephone lines and is cable-ready. Other West Hall amenities include a spacious television lounge, on-site laundry, study rooms, and a large courtyard area. Historic Murdaugh Hall is a traditional-style mens residence hall. Murdaugh Hall features double occupancy rooms and is located at the heart of campus within easy walking distance of classroom buildings, Central Cafeteria, and more. Murdaugh also features large lounge and recreational spaces, on-site laundry, large patio area, and a game room.
