The courses are as follows: ENG 132: Composition - Critical & Analytical, Prerequisite: C or better in ENG 131, ENG 381: Writing About Literature, Prerequisite: 6 hours of freshman composition, Linguistics. Choose one of the following courses. ENG 342: History of the English Language, ENG 344: Structures of English, ENG 441: Linguistic Theory, ENG 442: Topics in Linguistics, ENG 221: Major British Writers before 1800, Prerequisite: C or better in 6 hours of freshman composition, ENG 222: Major British Writers after 1800, Prerequisite: C or better in 6 hours of freshman composition, American Literature: Choose one of the following courses. ENG 229: Major American Writers before 1865, Prerequisite: C or better in 6 hours of freshman composition, ENG 230: Major American Writers after 1865, Prerequisite: C or better in 6 hours of freshman composition, ENG 320: Periods in American literature, Prerequisite: 9 semester hours of ENG courses.

They should also have their class rank and ACT or SAT scores and applicants whose native is not English must have a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test, 213 on the computer-based test, or 79 on the internet-based test.
