Siena Heights University is a Catholic university founded in 1919 and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters. Enrolling a diverse community of traditional-age and working adult students, Siena Heights is a coeducational North Central accredited institution founded in the liberal arts tradition, offering associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and specialist’s degrees. The University is headquartered in Adrian, Mich., with degree completion centers in Southfield, Benton Harbor, Monroe, Battle Creek, Lansing, Jackson and Port Huron. The name Siena honors St. Catherine of Siena, a 14th century Italian Dominican who dedicated the life to a quest for truth and social responsibility. Similarly, the mission of the College is to help students become more competent, purposeful and ethical grows out of the philosophy Siena. Throughout its history, Siena Heights has built a proud tradition of innovative response to challenging social needs. Originally a college for women who intended to become teachers, Siena broadened its offerings over the years and by the 1950s was recognized as one of the nation's 10 best liberal arts colleges for women. In 1969, Siena Heights became coeducational and expanded its curriculum to include programs in business and human services. In the 1970s, Siena Heights took a pioneering role in providing opportunities for adult students by offering evening and weekend classes and opening degree completion centers in Southfield, Mich., and in Toledo, Ohio. On July 1, 1998, Siena Heights College was renamed Siena Heights University. The mission of Siena Heights University, a Catholic University founded and sponsored by the Adrian Dominican Sisters, is to assist people to become more competent, purposeful, and ethical through a teaching and learning environment which respects the dignity of all.

The mission of the Residence Life staff at Siena Heights University is to promote a living and learning environment for students. Each staff member takes an active developmental approach. Staff members work with students to develop a sense of community in the halls. Efforts are made to realize values, foster the exchange of ideas, implement student development programs and provide peer counseling. Another main goal is to educate students about values and cultures of various racial and ethnic groups in an effort to recognize the humanity in all, which is part of the Dominican tradition. Resident Assistants work with the office staff to address student conduct concerns. They educate students on policies and in taking responsibility for their own actions, confront and take action when appropriate, and assume administrative follow up on behavioral conflicts. The residence halls are living units for students. Dormitories were places for eating and sleeping a residence hall has much more extensive living facilities, including lounges, game rooms, study areas, meeting areas, TV rooms, laundry facilities and more. A major addition is Campus Village at Siena. The state-of-the-art facility will provide all the features of off-campus living for juniors and seniors without leaving campus. The $6.5 million village houses 154 students, and includes private bedrooms and bathrooms, a full kitchen and wireless Internet capability. The Siena Heights University provides the services of housing assignments, key distribution, lock-outs, meal plan selection, mailbox assignments, id replacement, maintenance concerns, toilet paper, light bulbs, check-in/check-out, residence hall programming/activities, conflict mediation, crisis response, conduct adjudication.
