Ringkasan program
The course requirements for public relations majors include introductory advertising and public relations, research, law and ethics, graphic design, public relations writing and an additional writing course, public relations campaigns and PR management. Public relations students most often seek staff writer positions with corporate, institutional or non-profit organizations, either in external communications (press releases, brochures, annual reports, special events, etc.) or internal communications (employee newsletters and publications). Employment opportunities also exist in account management with public relations firms.

The Journalism and Mass Communications Core Courses (12 Hours): JOUR 201 - Survey of Mass Communications (hours counted in Social Science), JOUR 202 - Writing for Mass Communications, JOUR 303 - Law and Ethics of the Mass Media, JOUR 304 - Mass Communications Research, JOUR 364 - Introduction to Visual Communications, Additional Required Courses for Public Relations (24 Hours): JOUR 328 - Principles of Public Relations, JOUR 368 - Principles of Advertising, JOUR 436 - Public Relations Writing, JOUR 531 - Public Relations Campaigns, JOUR 566 - Public Relations Management, Plus 9 hours of electives in journalism and mass communications, Three of the elective hours must be chosen from: JOUR 333 - Copy Editing, JOUR 335 - Reporting, JOUR 458 - Creative Strategy in Advertising and JOUR 540 - Magazine Article Writing.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants must be high school graduates or have equivalent qualification. International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency by obtaining minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based), 210 (computer-based) or 77 (internet-based). Applicants may also take the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) in lieu of the TOEFL. A minimum score of 6.5 is required for the IELTS.
