Ringkasan program
The central focus of the MCDB major is on the fundamental mechanisms of how living systems operate at the cellular and molecular levels of organization, including the molecules of life and how they are assembled into functional subcellular and cellular structures, with heavy emphasis on genetic information and regulation of its expression in all aspects of living systems, including embryonic development. It emphasizes knowledge and awareness of the biological sciences in general and detailed understanding of currently important aspects of cellular biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, and developmental biology; and the relationship of the specialty area to broader areas of science and to society in general, including ethical issues raised by current biological research and by the rapid growth of biotechnology as an important shaping force for the future.

Students from China should have a minimum average of 80 points on the 100-point Chinese grading scale. Gao Kao results are not required. Those from South Korea should have a minimum average of B, or wu, in the Korean system. Students from Germany should have a minimum average grade of 2 on the 6-point German grading scale (or 10 on the 15-point German grading scale). Kuwait students should have a minimum average of 80 on the 100-point Kuwaiti grading scale. Those from Brazil should have a minimum average of 7.0 on the 10-point Brazilian grading scale. Thailand students should have a minimum average of 70 on a 100-point Thai grading scale. Students from Venezuela should have a minimum average of 13 on the 20-point Venezuelan grading scale. All these countries do not require SAT/ACT scores. In addition to this, international students should have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 537 on Paper-based, 75 on Internet-based; and an IELTS score of 6.5.
