The Department of Art is one of the largest and most comprehensive departments in the College of Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance. We offer diverse opportunities for creative development and expression on both the graduate and undergraduate levels in a wide variety of discipline areas. Our distinguished faculty provides instruction in the skills necessary for artistic creation, and guides students to an understanding of contemporary issues in the visual arts in an academically challenging environment. The department is committed to excellence in all programs and strives to combine curricular flexibility with a rigorous mix of experiences and opportunities for serious, focused study in art and design.

Florida State University offers several housing options in order to meet the various needs of graduate students. University Housing is committed to providing a comfortable environment that promotes and supports the educational mission of the University.Besides the traditional residence halls available to undergraduate students, FSU has several options for non-traditional undergraduates (23 years of age or older, married, single parent, etc.) and all graduate students. Students may choose from Rogers Hall, Alumni Village or designated spaces in Ragans Hall. Be advised that Rogers and Ragans halls are reserved for single students. Rogers Hall and Alumni Village offer a month-to-month contract, while Ragans Hall only offers a semester contract. Alumni Village offers graduate students a variety of housing options including one and two-bedroom flats and two and three bedroom town houses. Many graduate students relocate with their families; Alumni Village offers comfortable housing for them. Single graduate students can also reside at Alumni Village either alone or with another FSU graduate student roommate of the same gender (selected by the resident).The Florida Clean Air Act, effective as of October 1, 1993, prohibits smoking within any state university system educational facility. Therefore smoking is prohibited in indoor public areas as well as student rooms, apartments and suites.Housing Agreements for graduate students are available after a student has offically been admitted to FSU. To apply for housing, you must do the following: 1) Complete an electronic housing agreement by accessing the on-line application available on the housing website (www.housing.fsu. edu). 2) Return a paper housing agreement with all required information and return it with a non-refundable advance payment of $75, payable to Florida State University.
