Ringkasan program
This program is a stimulating, demanding and rewarding combination of creative and professional disciplines, rounded out by a solid base of liberal arts training. It is necessary - and challenging - to recognize that music is two things at the same time: an artistic product and a commercial product. The skills students develop will serve them well in a fast-paced industry that needs thoroughly trained personnel who can apply business and administration theory to problems that have a strong aesthetic and artistic dimension.
Modul program
Students coursework includes four categories of study: Music Business Specialization (35 credits): Business Structure of the Music Industry; Music in the Media Business; Economic and Legal Setting of the Music Industry; Concert Management; Music Publishing; Production and A and R; Village Records; Entrepreneurship for the Music Industry; International Music Business Marketplace; Fieldwork in International Music Business Studies; Unrestricted Electives (6 credits); Internships (9 credits). Music (34 credits): Music Theory I, II, III; Jazz Theory; Aural Comprehension I and II; Music History II, III, IV; Keyboard Harmony and Improvisation I and II; Music Technology classes (minimum of two); Music Electives (10 credits). Liberal Arts (40 credits): Expository Writing; Foundations of Contemporary Culture; Information Technology in Business and Society; Macro- and Microeconomics; Calculus I; Integrating Liberal Arts; Liberal Arts Electives. Leonard N. Stern School of Business (22 credits): Principles of Financial Accounting; Statistics; Foundations of Financial Markets; Management and Organizational Analysis; Introduction to Marketing.
