The Department of Agricultural Sciences mission is to produce exceptional leaders for a challenging future in the world’s largest and most important business - agriculture. The department also recognizes that the nation needs quality high school agricultural teachers for the high schools if they wish to live in a country with a safe and abundant food supply as well as a high quality of life. Thus, they have established the strongest agricultural and family education curriculum in this region of the country. The plant science curriculum matches any university of the size. They have professors who are experts in horticulture, agronomy, and crop physiology with classes that cover all aspects of plants.

Residential Living and Learning is a dedicated staff that cultivates an environment conducive to the active pursuit of academic, personal and professional success. They are determined to expand the understanding of oneself and global citizenship through innovative initiatives built on unique opportunities that engage and empower students to value diversity, enlightened inclusion, and lifelong learning. The goal is to provide students with a pleasant and comfortable living environment where life outside the classroom encourages and supports the academic mission of the University. They are confident that the many individuals and experiences that students will encounter this year will make living in the campus community an exciting and enjoyable part of their college years. Living in on campus housing comes with many benefits and freedoms. As with other liberties, these freedoms come with responsibilities. Students will be asked to respect the privacy of their fellow residents, to encourage practices which create and support a learning environment, and to do their part to promote a safe and secure community. University Housing is a place they hope students will be proud to call their home while at Texas A and M University-Commerce. Whether students are a new or returning student, residential living and learning professional staff, along with Resident Assistants (RAs), resident hall association, desk staff, and office personnel will help students get to know other students, learn their way around, and get involved in campus life. They encourage students to become involved in their community. The students on campus represent a wide array of backgrounds, cultures, life-styles and attitudes. The on-campus residences provide a rich and unique opportunity for students to learn more about their self and others.
