Ringkasan program
This program involves a biology field involved in the understanding of the relationship between the nervous system and behavior of an organism, a relationship that has been a topic of study for thousands of years by individuals from fields ranging from philosophy to biology. The field of neuroscience itself has expanded significantly in the last twenty years, attracting students interested in understanding how birds migrate to those interested in understanding the genetic underpinnings of Alzheimer’s disease. The Neuroscience concentration at DePaul will provide students majoring in either Biology the opportunity to design a curriculum that will prepare them for a career or future study in Neuroscience.
Modul program
The modules are Required Biology Courses (all majors): BIO 101 General Bio I, BIO 102 General Bio II, BIO 103 General Bio III, BIO 260 Genetics, BIO 305 Biometry, Allied Field Courses: General Chemistry (CHE 111-115), One year of General Physics, Organic Chemistry (CHE 171-175), One year of Calculus, Two Required Biology Courses: BIO 250 - Cell Biology, BIO 310- Vertebrate Physiology, Two Required Neuroscience Courses: BIO 339 - Cellular Neurobiology, BIO 340- Systems Neurobiology (lab), Four Biology Electives from the following two options (2 must have a lab): One Biology Elective from the following courses: BIO 341- Topics in Neurobiology, BIO 375- Introduction to Pharmacology, BIO 360 - Molecular Biology, BIO 386 - Endocrinology, Three Additional Biology Electives: Students can choose any three of the currently approved Electives for Biology Majors, The ones most relevant to Neuroscience are: BIO 220- Biotechnology, BIO 230- Epidemiology, Bio 301- Animal Behavior, BIO 330- Developmental Biology, BIO 352- Advanced Comparative Physiology, BIO 365 - Toxicology.
Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional
Applicants should have completed or are about to complete their secondary school education (high school) and have not taken any college or university coursework after finishing their secondary education. Applicants educated outside the US, regardless of their legal status, should have a proof of English proficiency. Applicants can prove their English proficiency by submitting any of the tests below: minimum TOEFL score of 80, no section lower than 17 (internet based), 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper based); minimum IELTS score of 6.5; minimum SAT verbal score of 500; minimum ACT score of 18 on the reading section, and 20 on the English section and a minimum Pearson Test of English Academic score of 53.
