The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins have faculty and students who have been breaking new ground in biomedical research for over 45 years, and they strive to continue this history of innovation and discovery every day. More than 400 undergraduates and 190 graduate students are in Hopkins BME to prepare themselves for careers in medicine, basic science, and industry. Each year 100 new undergraduates are selected from a stellar applicant pool. The academic level of the program is extremely challenging, giving the best and brightest students an opportunity to obtain the most comprehensive training in biomedical engineering available. For their graduate programs, students are permitted to select any Hopkins faculty as a thesis advisor. They believe that both their students and the Johns Hopkins research mission are served best by placing their students in multidisciplinary teams, and they encourage them to find these opportunities. They have 24 primary faculty who are world leaders in their respective fields of research. which range from theoretical modeling of the machinery of the cell to the fabrication and implantation of new tissues in human joints.

The Department of Housing and Dining Services believes that through group living, students develop important personal, social and interpersonal skills. They contain several divisions such as On-Campus, Off-Campus Housing and Dining Services. The On-Campus Housing is responsible for campus owned and operated residence halls and apartments. Contracts, room and board billing, room assignments, room selection, summer housing and the mail room services. The University-owned apartments are beautiful buildings located in the Charles Village community where students can enjoy various stores, coffee shops and restaurants while being conveniently close to the Homewood campus. Students live in efficiencies, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and three-bedroom or four-bedroom apartments, all fully furnished. The residence halls are either traditional residential hall style or suite-style accommodations. Besides a place to call home, these buildings offer a variety of amenities including game rooms, exercise rooms, computer clusters and dining halls. Dining Services is responsible for maintaining relations between the university and Aramark, the food service provider. University housing is provided to registered, full-time Johns Hopkins University’s Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and Whiting School of Engineering undergraduate students. When a student graduates, withdraws, takes a leave of absence, fails to register full-time for the semester, or is academically dismissed, the individual will be required to vacate University housing immediately. Graduate students are ineligible for University housing.
