This program provides an overview of public safety research, theory and principles, with a focus on criminal justice processes and procedures. Course work includes such topics as corrections and judicial systems, criminal law and the legal process, police-community relations, white collar and organized crime investigations, and criminal procedure and evidence. People choosing this specialization are often pursuing entry level officer positions or career advancement within law enforcement agencies, corrections departments, and federal regulatory or enforcement agencies.

Specialization modules include: White Collar and Organized Crime Investigations PS4105, Corrections, Probation, and Parole PS4110, Juvenile Justice Practice PS4115, Police-Community Relations PS4120, Policing in the U.S. Society PS4125, Race, Crime, and Criminal Justice PS4135, Criminal Law and the Legal Process PS4140, Criminal Law PS4145, History of Drug Control PS4150, Police Administration PS4155, Criminal Procedure and Evidence PS4160. Elective module is choosing 37 quarter credits of additional undergraduate courses. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter Public Safety Senior Capstone Project - 6 quarter credits PS4990. To complete the Degree, students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.

Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
