This program focuses on managing public security in conjunction with federal resources. The curriculum includes course work on such topics as domestic and international terrorism, jurisdictional coordination and diplomatic, technological and intelligence approaches to national security. A capstone project provides an opportunity to apply and demonstrate leadership skills in the growing field of homeland security. People who choose this specialization may wish to pursue career advancement or deeper expertise in federal, state, or local security/enforcement agencies or to transition from the military into a civilian homeland security career.

Core modules include: Communication Strategies for the Public Safety Professional - 6 quarter credits PS3004, Introduction to Criminal Justice PS3100, Introduction to Emergency Management PS3200, Principles of Security Management PS3300, Introduction to Homeland Security PS3400, Applied Public Safety Theory PS3500, Principles of Public Safety Investigation PS3600, Justice, Crime, and Ethics PS3700, Applied Public Safety Research Methods PS3800, History of Violence in the U.S. Society PS3900, Introductory Public Safety Statistical Research 6 quarter credits PS3950. Specialization modules include: Homeland Security in the 21st Century PS4310, Homeland Security and Multijurisdictional Coordination PS4320, Homeland Security and Emergency Management PS4325, Leadership in Homeland Security PS4330, Technology and Homeland Security PS4340, Government, Media, and Civil Liberties PS4350, Domestic and International Terrorism PS4360, World Conflict PS4365, Diplomatic Approaches to National Security PS4370, Intelligence Role in Homeland Security PS4380 and Multijurisdictional Approaches to Investigations PS4390. Elective module is choosing 37 quarter credits of additional undergraduate courses. Capstone module to be taken in the final quarter is Public Safety Senior Capstone Project - 6 quarter credits PS4990. To complete the Degree, students need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.

Students must have completed high school diploma or equivalent. They must be at least 24 years old. International students whose language of instruction is not English are required to take one of the following tests: the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum acceptable score of 550 on paper-based test, 213 on computer-based test with a score of 4.0 or higher on the Test of Written English (TWE), or 79 on internet based examination; Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) score of 80; International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a score of 6.5; or Pearson Test of English (PTE) score of 59.
