This program can refer to all the activities related to producing and managing an organization's goods and services. Operations management takes various inputs (labor, materials, capital, information, time, and energy) and transforms those into the wide array of outputs of goods and services that they have today. Companies recognize that the operations functions can be a competitive weapon to strengthen their position in today's market place as they seek to improve productivity while still providing a broad array of high quality products and services. Operations managers have the challenging and rewarding role of designing, scheduling, staffing, controlling, and improving this complex, yet important, productive pipelines profiting the goods and services they all use to enrich the lives. In most organizations, the operations system represents the largest function usually managing most of the organization’s employees and productive assets and accounting for the major portion of the firm’s capital and operating expenditures. Thus the operations function would be significant if due only to its size, level of resources and total expenditures required completing its mission. Students selecting Operations management as an area of specialization will obtain a broad foundation for careers in (1)the manufacturing sector (everything from manufacturing food products to airplanes), (2)the wholesale and retail sectors (distribution, warehouse, stores, wed based commerce), and (3)service sector (banks, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, government agencies).

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have a successful completion of four years of a university preparatory curriculum (also known as college preparatory curriculum or college prep) while in the final four years (grades 9-12) of high school/secondary school such as four units of English, three (four)units of math, three units of natural science with significant lab experience, two (three) units of social science, two (three) units of the same foreign language, one unit of a visual or performing art, one additional unit of the above courses and they must possess the performance in high school/secondary school as shown by class rank or grade point average. They should have the SAT critical reading and verbal score of at least 500 and ACT English score of at least 21. International applicants whose native language is not English must have results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 527 on the paper based test, 71 on the Internet-based test, score of at least 79 on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and an official band score of at least 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
