The Marketing major provides both a theoretical understanding and a managerial/applied perspective regarding the principles of marketing and an understanding of marketing’s interaction with other functional areas of the organization. Through the selection of marketing electives, marketing majors receive a broad exposure to the diversity of marketing activities and an opportunity to tailor the program to their own interests. Central to these ends, the courses develop an understanding of the vocabulary of marketing, the process of exchange and the role of relevant information in decision-making. Experience with diagnosing and analyzing marketing problems as well as developing and implementing courses of action is emphasized.

Admission to Drake is selective, the admission committee considers the full record of each candidate for admission. Drake prefers students with varied talents and interests, so there is no single, inflexible set of admission standards applied to all candidates. Students should complete their secondary school for admissions into undergraduate programs. Should take the TOEFL and submit scores to Drake. If not done prior to arrival on campus, the TOEFL must be completed during the orientation session before beginning the semester. Submit documented evidence of financial support for educational expenses. Students should submit ACT or SAT scores directly from the testing agency for scholarship consideration or for admission to the pre-professional pharmacy program.
