This program is the engineering of constructed facilities such as buildings, bridges, tunnels, and dams; harbors and airports; waterways, railways, and highways; water power, irrigation, drainage, and water supply; and sewerage, waste disposal, and environmental systems. Typical civil engineering projects are large, one of a kind, and important in the daily lives of a great many people. The planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of such constructed facilities are generally carried out by civil engineers. Graduates of civil engineering programs are found in engineering and administrative posts in industry, construction, research, government, and consulting firms. In this program, construction engineers analyze constructed facilities based on function and economics; they determine the construction schedule, erection methods and equipment used, and they estimate the total labor and material costs of the constructed facility. Proper quality control procedures used by engineers during construction will increase performance and productivity and reduce the risk of construction failure and deficiencies. In this program, hydraulics engineers deal with the development, control, and management of the water resources. They predict surface runoff from precipitation, streamflow, droughts, floods, groundwater supplies, and future water demands. Hydraulics engineers also determine reservoir sites for enhanced water supply, for maximum flood control, and for hydroelectric power plants. Such engineers plan river and coastal developments to control lake and river erosions and improve maritime navigation.

Persyaratan masuk bagi mahasiswa internasional

Students must have a successful completion of four years of a university preparatory curriculum (also known as college preparatory curriculum or college prep) while in the final four years (grades 9-12) of high school/secondary school such as four units of English, three (four)units of math, three units of natural science with significant lab experience, two (three) units of social science, two (three) units of the same foreign language, one unit of a visual or performing art, one additional unit of the above courses and they must possess the performance in high school/secondary school as shown by class rank or grade point average. They should have the SAT critical reading and verbal score of at least 500 and ACT English score of at least 21. International applicants whose native language is not English must have results from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a score of at least 527 on the paper based test, 71 on the Internet-based test, score of at least 79 on the Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB) and an official band score of at least 6.5 on the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
