Department of Physical Education seeks to provide enriching opportunities that enhance quality of life and links wellness, sport, intramurals, outdoor programming, and lifetime experiences for all CofI students. This can be accomplished through the activity courses, participation in sport, intramurals, and outdoor programs or by design from one of three majors: Physical Education, Sport and Fitness Management, and Exercise Science. The faculties in the department are committed to provide students with a diverse and broad educational foundation which focuses on an individualized plan that caters to students? individual strengths and interests and centers on their values, interests, experiences, and backgrounds. This is evident by the breadth and vision of the core curriculum whose aim is to prepare the student in a liberal arts setting for lifelong wellness, healthy choice selection, and an evaluation system that is ongoing. This Department is committed to provide all students with exercise avenues in a variety of ways.

The Residence Life focuses on providing a living environment that enhances learning and personal development. Residence hall staff is educators who seek to create a community where students mature personally and academically. Residence hall living offers opportunities for involvement in campus activities, personal growth, leadership development, life skills development, interaction with campus leaders, independence and fun. Research shows that students who live on campus tend to do better academically, are more involved in campus activities, and remain in school at higher rates than commuter students. The residence hall experience is intended to complement the academic experience, help students become integrated members of the campus community, and facilitate their overall growth and development.
